“Patricia took care of my mother for more than a year. It was no easy task. As my mother’s dementia worsened, her care became incredibly challenging. But, Patricia never gave up. She remained supportive to the very last day. We could not have managed without her.

Patricia asked some good questions, listened, observed and shared her ideas. I welcomed her input and encouraged her participation. Her conversations with my mother’s doctors and the Partners in Care staff usually brought about some very good suggestions. For example, she developed a wonderful breakfast based on what she learned from our doctor and the Partners in Care dietitian. Patricia genuinely cared for my mother. While my mother could still walk, they would explore the neighborhood, meet people and do food shopping together. It’s also often the little things that make a difference. Patricia understood this and it gave my mother comfort.

She even warmed my mother’s clothes on the radiator in the winter. From beginning to end, Patricia showed she cared in everything she did. This gave me the greatest peace of mind when I left for work. I knew Patricia did not think of my mother as a job, but as a very special person. She brought her positive 'can do' attitude to our home every day. We will always be grateful that she became a special person in our mother’s life and in ours.
