Stephanie R. has always been squeamish when it comes to needles. “I won’t even look at my arm when I’m giving blood,” she laughs. So, when the nurses at Stephanie’s fertility clinic told her that the next phase of her treatment required an intramuscular injection, she was more than a little uncomfortable. Even worse, because of scheduling complications, the clinic would not be able to administer the shot. Fighting back her sense of growing panic, Stephanie asked the nurses about alternative options. “Just call the Visiting Nurse Service of New York,” one of the RNs calmly replied. Stephanie R. did just that. One phone call later to VNSNY, the parent company of Partners in Care, put Stephanie in touch with a nurse supervisor at Partners in Care. “When I called she knew exactly who I was and why I was calling,” says Stephanie. Not only was everyone with whom Stephanie spoke incredibly kind, they were surprisingly accommodating, too. Being that this was a time-sensitive procedure, Stephanie’s appointment had to be scheduled quickly within a very tight window. Partners in Care made it easy for Stephanie to arrange for everything, from start to finish. 

Finally, the day for Stephanie’s shot arrived. Stephanie’s nurse got there early; Stephanie was instantly impressed. “I was so nervous about the pain I was sure I’d experience from the shot, but my nurse was so sweet and kind,” says Stephanie. “One second she was rubbing alcohol on the area, and then all of the sudden she was done! I didn’t even realize she had administered the shot!” When asked if she would use Partners in Care services again, Stephanie R. says, “Of course. That’s a no-brainer.”

Not only did Stephanie’s experience with Partners in Care help her overcome a logistical challenge, it instilled in her the comfort of knowing that her biggest fear was easily surmountable. Now, she can proceed with the confidence of someone who knows she can deal with any obstacle that gets in her way.
