Bette, a Partners in Care client, spent much of her life as a caregiver for infirm and elderly clients. But when she fell ill with Alzheimer's, her family, scattered across the country, was worried that she would have no one to take care of her.
Thanks to Partners in Care licensed practical nurse, Aphrodite, Bette, 88, is able to remain in her apartment while getting the round-the-clock support she needs. Aphrodite, who visits Bette daily to dispense medications, check vital signs, and assess her general well-being, says that remaining in familiar surroundings is especially important to someone with Alzheimer's. "She recognizes things," says Aphrodite. "She feels safer."
Bette's team also includes split-shift home health aides and a case manager, who coordinates the care, makes sure it runs smoothly, and handles any unexpected needs.
