Caregiving Lecture Series

To help employees face the challenges of caring for aging parents, it's important for companies to seek out and offer useful resources. After all, there are 25 million baby boomers caring for an adult family member, and more than 60 percent of all family caregivers also work full time. Many of these caregivers must take time off and make adjustment to their work schedules to care for their loved ones, losing corporations an estimated $33.6 billion annually, as a result of lost productivity directly related to caregiving responsibilities. Through our Caregiving Lecture Series, Partners in Care can help your company's employees understand the issues they face, so they can better manage their own situation.

This unique lecture series provides crucial information to your employees while taking minimal time away from their work. Seminars can be customized to cover topics that are most relevant to your employees. A recent seminar, “Remaining Independent: Navigating Health Care for Our Loved Ones and Ourselves," featured a panel of experts including a geriatrician, a registered nurse, and an eldercare attorney. The panelists aimed to demystify the medical and legal systems and assisted caregivers in finding optimal services for their loved ones.

This program is an innovative way to educate your employees about how to avoid the pitfalls that often come with caring for an aging parent and provides practical information on navigating the medical system in a more effective, satisfying way. Participants will leave with a new understanding of their parents and aging relatives, any issues that need to be addressed, and the steps they can take to get better medical care now--and protect their loved ones in the future.

Specifically, employees who attend these seminars will:

  • Understand the role of a geriatrician and determine when an aging loved one person should see one
  • Recognize the various aspects of caregiving (i.e. medical, psychosocial, emotional and financial) and learn concrete steps to prepare for the future or improve a current caregiving situation
  • Get to know Medicare/Medicaid, including who qualifies, which services are covered under insurance and which services are paid for privately
  • Learn about Advance Directives and who should have them
