Caregiving Lecture Series

As part of our ongoing commitment to Corporate Wellness, Partners in Care provides screenings, immunizations and other employer-based educational programs to companies throughout New York. Now, for the first time, we are offering a complimentary speaker program entitled "Successful Caregiving".

Key Facts

Companies must increasingly find resources to support their employees as they face the challenge of caring for their aging parents. In fact,

  1. There are 25 million baby boomers caring for an adult family member
  2. Over 60% of all caregivers work full-time
  3. US companies are losing an estimated $33.6 billion annually as a result of lost productivity directly related to caregiving

Program Benefits

This unique program provides an effective means of providing crucial information to your employees while taking minimal time away from work. In "Successful Caregiving", Dr. Anna Loengard, a Harvard trained and Board Certified Geriatrician and Assistant Professor of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, demystifies the medical system and assists caregivers in finding optimal services for their loved-ones. This program is an innovative way to educate your employees about how to avoid the pitfalls when caring for an aging parent. By bringing her multimedia lectures to the workplace, Dr. Loengard provides a valuable service in partnership with the leading home care agency in New York.

This lecture provides knowledge that will empower and prepare caregivers to navigate the medical system in a more effective, satisfying way. Participants will leave with a new understanding of their parents and aging relatives, the issues that need to be addressed, and the steps they can take to get better medical care now - and protect their loved ones in the future.

Specifically, employees who attend "Successful Caregiving" will:

  1. Understand what a Geriatrician is and when an older person should see one
  2. Recognize the various aspects of caregiving (i.e. medical, psychosocial, emotional and financial) and concrete steps to prepare for the future or improve a current caregiving situation
  3. Understand Medicare/Medicaid - who qualifies, which services are covered under insurance and which ones are paid for privately
  4. Know what Advance Directives are and who should have them
